Withhold your data organized. Keeping the information on your computer organized in folders will be a great help when it comes to backing up your information.

Learn where important files are stored on your system. For example, the mail from your Outlook or Thunderbird, save files for games you play, settings files from your most used programs, etc. Once you know where they are, you will know where to make backups from.

Step 3

Whenever you download a program or other file you might want later, keep a copy in a folder on your computer, so you can make backups later. This saves you from needing to download it again later.

ZIP or RAR your data from time to time. I suggest once a month, go through your computer and make compressed copies of all your important data.
