Vonage has just added several new features to their phone service plans. Some of them are pretty chilly. None of them cost you anymore on your service plan. Some of the newly added features are peaceful in Alpha Testing, and you may encounter some glitches.
V-Access (free if local call)
V-Access has local phone numbers in the US, UK, Canada, Australia, France, Ireland, Italy Mexico and Spain. This is easy to use with the person who wants to call you would call a local access number, numbers are listed at {www.Vonage.com} then under features, then it will give you a prompt to call someone who has Vonage phone, the phone call will be no charge to you if you have a local access number to call. You can use this number even if you don’t have Vonage. Only the person you are calling needs to have Vonage.
Vonage V-Me (free)
This is an online business card that enables friends, business to enter their number to derive a hold of you. With this option you don’t have to give out your personal number, and still have people connect to you. If you use the Vonage business card feature, people can click on the link provided and Vonage will contact you, and then contact them without them having to take up the phone and dial. You can use this in your email signature for customers and friends to contact you easily.
V-Fax (free)
Fax from you computer, this supports files from Word, Excel, PowerPoint, PDF, OpenOffice.org. You simply go to Vonage.com then features and click on V-Fax to send a fax. You will have to log in with your phone number and password, establish in the phone number you want to send a fax to, chose the file, and send. No need for an extra fax machine.

This is a service that will cost you 25 cents for each voicemail they put into text. You can have them send to your email and you can read the voicemail.
Note: You can have the voicemail notifications sent to your email for free one of 2 ways, you can have a email stating that you have voicemail and log into your phone to listen, or you can have it send you a .wav file and you can listen to your messages online from your email, anywhere you have computer access with sound available.
1-700-GETNEWS (free)
Call 1-700-GETNEWS and consume from news of world, US news, business news. You can email the stories to yourself from your Vonage phone. They will come in your email. Or you can listen to them over the phone.
1-700-GREETINGS (free)
You can send poems, jokes or quotes to anyone with a phone in US or Canada. You can also personalize the messages. If you would like to send an email, it will be sent in an audio file. They have several holiday’s that you can choose from or a just because option.
1-700-WEATHER (free)
Weather provided by Accuweather.com. This will give you forecasts for any US city zip code. This feature will give unusual conditions, 5-day forecasts and severe weather warnings.
211 Dialing (free)
Information for services you need, such as nursing homes, daycares in your area, community agencies that are able to help you.
311 Dialing (free)
Talk to live operators that can allege you to the accurate government office to assist you.
411 Enhanced (fee per use)
This costs 99 cents per call and you can get up to two listings per call. Information for directory services. You also can procure movie listings, airline flight times, ATM location, stock quotes, Lottery results, horoscope, and accurate time of day for anywhere.
511 Dialing (not offered everywhere)
Traveler Information. Traffic updates if your state participates. Vonage will route the call to the nearest center for the address you have listed on the account for 911 purposes.
811 Dialing (free, but not offered everywhere)
Call before you dig. Vonage will connect you to your state’s call center for underground utilities location. Not available everywhere.
Refer-A-Friend
While this has been around for a long time, it is aloof a great way to get free phone service from Vonage. Every time you refer someone and they tag up for Vonage you get 2 free months of service, up to $50.00. You can refer as many people as you want to, and still get the free service
